Day to day functioning of the Sports Board is looked after by a “Working Committee” which is headed by the Chairman. The main task of the Working Committee is to supervise matters related to framing each year asports calendar, to elect representatives of the university to Cricket Association of Bengal, Indian Football Association and other such organizations, preparing each year a sports budget and assigning tasks to its different sub-committees.

Since its inception the North Bengal University Sports Board has been playing a very pivotal role in raising the standard of sports activities in this region. The University of North Bengal is situated far away from any metropolitan city. The university has plenty of resources in the form of young students who not only posses naturally well built physique, but are also very much positive in attitude. Given proper training and encouragement, this pool of youthfulhuman resource is capable of breaking any barrier. The North Bengal University Sports Board with its limited capabilities is catering to these needs of the young people of this region. It can play a more meaningful role if sufficient infrastructural and other facilities are made available.

With a view to expand and modernize the Sports Board in the light of the emerging needs and aspirations of the people of this region, the Board proposes to undertake a number of schemes for augmenting its standard both in organizational and operational terms. This has been highlighted in the section under the title “Future Projection”.
