UNIVERSITY OF NORTH BENGAL
The Post Graduate Department of Commerce was established in 1965 with the purpose to promote state of the art teaching and research and in Business Operations and Management. The primary programme offered by the department is Masters in Commerce, with specializations offered in Accounting and Finance, Personnel Management and Industrial Relations , Marketing, Banking and Finance and International finance.
The course curriculum has been designed according to the guidelines prescribed by the UGC and aims at equipping the students with technical and analytical skill in management of funds, people, markets and legal and economic environment of business so that they are capacitated to handle strategic and operational issues in corporate and non corporate business houses. The department also runs a full time six month Research Methodology course for Ph.D scholars . For administration of the courses, modern pedagogic techniques like case studies, business games, role playing etc. are used with appropriate audio-visual media. The examination and assessment processes consist of structured class tests, assignments, viva-voce and seminar presentations. The alumni of this department are placed as professional managers in banking and insurance and other companies and as faculty in several universities, colleges and reputed management and professional institutes.
The faculty of this department has diverse specializations to cater to the needs of teaching and research and has also been associated with a large number of universities, institutions and government departments. The department has organized national level seminars and workshops and contributed in development of teachers in the field of Commerce and Management by organizing Refresher Courses.
Apart from developing research competence the learners will have the necessary knowledge and skills for being Accountant, banking professional, Data analyst, and investment consultant.

The students get exposed to research ethics, ways to avoid plagiarism and all aspects of research methodology in concerned discipline.
