UNIVERSITY OF NORTH BENGAL
In order to the maintain the highest level of academic bonding with the students and to uphold their levels of wisdom in accordance with the spirit of the voices of Gurudev Tagore (as above),the University of North Bengal has always been in the quest of inculcating and nurturing an environment, where they can freely interact with the officers, staff-members and teachers of the University in any matter related to their academic or non-academic pursuits. Over the years, such a practice has become a part of the student management system and the University became keen to know if any student suffers from any form of discontent or dissatisfaction in any academic or non-academic matter during the process of admission or in case of withdrawal of admission (within the time mentioned in the prospectus) or throughout the course of the study and is able to express his concern to the University authority to redress it. As a part of this gesture, the matter has been formalised by forming appropriate Committee dedicated solely on the issue and a number of grievance boxes have been installed in different locations of the administrative and academic areas of the University to collect grievances from students (if any) and address those systematically. In view of the rising importance of the issue of students’ grievances throughout the Country, over time, the University Grants Commission (UGC) also paid much attention to formalise the matter in an institutional setup and to bring uniformity and transparency in the grievance redressal mechanism. The same process get a boost when, in compliance with the University Grants Commission (Redress of Grievances of Students) Regulations – 2019, the University of North Bengal forms a new Committee, namely ‘North Bengal University Students’ Grievance Redressal Cell’ (NBUSGRC henceforth) on 31.12.2020 and decides to initiate an ever new student-friendly Grievance Redressal Mechanism through both the online and offline modes, where students are free to express or submit their concern with an ease. In view of the above, NBUSGRC, in its meeting held on 21st September 2021, resolved to introduce the said Grievance Redressal Mechanism with the addition of a user-friendly soft-module in the official website of the University https://nbu.ac.in with technical assistance from and under the custody of CIRM, University of North Bengal and with the installation of a grievance box to collect grievance in physical of the University under the custody of the Joint Registrar, University of North Bengal with immediate effect. The NBUSGRC also assured to resolve the issues of students’ grievances (if any) periodically with sheer priority as per the UGC guidelines
