UNIVERSITY OF NORTH BENGAL
The Department of Hindi, NBU was opened under the X (10th) plan of U.G.C. in the year 2004 with three teaching posts i.e. Reader-01, Lecturer-02. Later on additional post of Professor-01 was sanctioned under the XI plan. Now, the Department has four teaching posts out of which two posts are vacant. The Department of Hindi, NBU is located in a Non-Hindi speaking boarder area. Further, this is multilingual zone. Hindi language is a bridge in between cultures. So, this Department has a socio-cultural importance.
The Department of Hindi, NBU has a Seminar Library for the academic betterment of staff, research scholars and students. It has a wall magazine namely ‘Chetna’ which is a platform of literary expression of students. This wall magazine reflects the thought making efforts of students of the Department. The wall magazine changes it’s face on every fortnight.
The Department of Hindi, NBU organizes monthly Departmental Seminars in which students of the Department are trained to orate in the guidance of teachers. Apart from these activities, the Department keeps watchful eyes on the all-round development of it’s students.
The learners get research foundation for doctoral degree
The learners will demonstrate the mastery of the Hindi language and literature by detailing the development and current practices of literary studies, rhetoric, criticism etc. They will have the ability to critique the dominant critical theories, methodologies and practices in the field, conduct research and teach effectively.
The students get exposed to research ethics, ways to avoid plagiarism and all aspects of research methodology in concerned discipline.
